Sky is relaunching its monthly customer magazine, which has the
biggest circulation of any consumer magazine in Britain, under the new name Skymag as a glossier upmarket read.
The new-look title, which aims to appeal more to women, will relaunch
next month with actress Billie Piper on the cover and an interview about her role in ITV2 drama Secret Diary of a Call Girl.
New celebrity columnists will include Ben Fogle on eco-living, Mariella
Frostrup on arts and culture, and Carole Vorderman on puzzles.
previously called Sky The Magazine, is published by News Magazines, which won the contract at the end of last year from John
The magazine's slogan will be "Make the most of your Sky".
"Skymag is designed with the ABC1 woman in mind," said the Sky director
of communications, Christian Cull. "A typical reader is serious about her career and family, she is an avid TV fan with a
passion for celebrity news, and is always looking for ways to improve her home and entertainment lifestyle."
The magazine aims to attract new advertisers such as Renault and Jeep,
which have signed up to advertise in a Sky magazine for the first time.
The relaunch will be backed by a TV campaign on Sky as well as a press
campaign in trade titles.
Sky The Magazine recorded a circulation of more than 7m in the six
months to the end of June, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations.

Billie Misses The Doctor
Billie has shown signs that she may consider
a return to Doctor Who one day. Billie, who played Rose in
the series, has reportedly admitted that she wouldn't mind going back for a visit - particularly for David Tennant's final
episode. She told the Daily Express: "I find it a bit sad
watching it now I'm not in it. I really miss it. I didn't realise how much I would. I'd love to pop back."
Billie's Eye Scare
Billie has been treated in hospital after a sudden attack of blindness.
Panic-stricken Billie could not open her eyes normally when she
woke up after a night out at a restaurant where she had suffered blurred vision, ITV has confirmed.
Doctors at Moorfield's eye hospital in London carried out tests
to see if she had damaged her retina.
A spokesperson for ITV, with whom Billie has just finished filming
Secret Diary of a Call Girl, said: "The doctor has told her to rest for a few days and avoid the light.
"We don't know what the cause was, but she is okay and will be resting
over the weekend."
Billie's eye scare began when she arrived at the Ivy restaurant
in London after a photo-shoot with fashion snapper Rankin. She was spotted peering closely at her mobile and was having trouble
As she stepped outside for a cigarette, she was in obvious discomfort
as paprazzi flash bulbs went off around her.
Experts say retinal damage caused by camera flashes are rare but
they could serve as a trigger for existing conditions.
She is recovering well and is now back on set.
Billie Taking Saucy Lessons
Billie is taking saucy lessons to swot up for her latest role as Belle De Jour in the new ITV drama series
The Secret Diary Of A Call Girl.
An ITV spokeswoman said: “They do have a dominatrix on set to advise. It's about prostitution and
they want to get it right."
The Secret Diary Of A Call Girl is due to hit ITV2 in the Autumn.
BBC Three Doctor Who Repeats
Series Two Of Doctor Who is currently being repeated each night on BBC Three at 19:00pm in the UK.
