Thanks to Judith for the following report:

So....... I've just gotten back from Cardiff. It was good.

..... yeah, I had to really.

So, I met Cally and the boys at the station, before we went to lunch. On the way BACK from lunch, we saw a sign on the street with a familiar name. We followed the arrow, and found....

In case you can't see it, here's a closer view of the sign:

Awesome. We couldn't believe it. And absolutely had to take photos of each other stood in front of it. Yes.

This is St. Mary's Street, by the way. Note the lights in the 'off' position!

Anyway..... we checked into our hotels, wandered around a comic book shop with LOADS of Doctor Who stuff, then somehow managed to get to the waterfront (I'll just say at this point that I've never been to Cardiff before IN MY LIFE, and Cally hasn't been more than about 50 meters into it)......... for the BOOM TOWN LOCATION scouting. So we saw:

..... and some other things, like the other featured restaurants in that episode (which actually are all on the waterfront!)

We then managed to make it back to St Marys street, and THEN figured out where we were going for the lights. So I guess this is the bit that everyone's actually interested in......

This was the source of the information I was texting to people. We really got the impression that Red Dragon was going to be broadcasting..... ah well.

We arrived at around 5ish. These were the people in front of us:

At 5.30, these were the people behind us:

(and it got WELL busier)

I'd say we timed that pretty well..... which was a nice change. :)

.... were the Red Hot Santas. Yeah, I'm not sure either. And I was there.

Were the annoying local DJs. There was also a 'Pete' who appears to be trying to shake many many people's hands. He was from the radio station too.

Frank Hennessey, Cardiff sensation. The girls in bunny ears (as seen above) had to tell us who that was.... well, before it became self-evident when he walked onto the stage with a guitar and started singing. He did 'Winter Wonderland' live, and added an extra verse onto the end, which ended

"Let's hope that it snows
For the Doctor and Rose
While they're working in the Winter Wonderland"

...... which was actually really nice, and earned quite a whoop from certain people..... ;D

There were also some other people from the local TV, and......... oh sod this, let's get on to the David pictures!

The COUNTDOWN (I'm guessing this is the bit that's on the clip which is still downloading to my computer)

There was also a big screen for people who weren't quite as close to the stage as we were

Thank you :)

....... and that was it, really. You'll note the lights are now in 'ON' mode:

That was from my hotel window. I did hang around a bit afterwards, but he scarpered pretty quickly, and I was totally knackered. So I was in bed when Cally texted me to tell me that she'd SEEN him. Though that may have been a good thing..... I may have gone over and blurted out something inappropriate. Purely through tiredness, you understand.
;)
